Junior Stanislas is sure he made the right decision to join Bournemouth in the summer rather than stay with Burnley.

Stanislas was at Burnley last season as they won promotion to the Premier League, but he turned down the offer of a new deal and linked up with the Cherries on a free transfer.

While he would have loved to play in the top flight, Stanislas feels it is more important for him to play regularly and he has no regrets about the direction he took.

“In terms of where Burnley are, you can’t judge them too harshly because they have had some tough games,” Stanislas told the Bournemouth Daily Echo about his former club, who are currently second from bottom in the Premier League.

“But in terms of my own personal decision, I’m happy. I’ve been starting games and coming on the pitch.

“I’ve only not come on once when I’ve been on the bench.

“I think I’ve contributed towards the team and how we’ve played. My decision was solely based on football reasons and playing, and I’ve had that opportunity so far, so I can’t complain.”

Stanislas accepts that there is still competition for places at Bournemouth but he is relishing the battle for a starting spot and pleased to play his part in the team’s success

He added: “As much as you want to play every single game, you have got to respect and appreciate what others around you can do as well.

“It can be difficult if you are trying to put a run of games together but you to look at it from a team point of view.”
