Sky sources understand that Brighton have matched the release clause for Bournemouth forward Lewis Grabban.
The 26-year-old has it written into his contract that his services can be secured for £1.1million.
Brighton are prepared to pay that and have put an offer on the table.
It is understood that Grabban will now travel to the south coast on Thursday to hold talks with the Seagulls.
Brighton are in the market for a new frontman after agreeing to offload Ashley Barnes to Championship rivals Burnley.
Grabban would add useful Football League experience to their ranks, with the winger having previously turned out for the likes of Millwall, Brentford and Rotherham United.
