Bournemouth striker Brett Pitman has been awarded the League One Player of the Month award for March.

The 24-year-old striker, who rejoined the Cherries from Bristol City in January, scored five goals in six appearances to help Eddie Howe's side revive their claim for an automatic promotion place. Three of Pitman's goals came in crucial 1-0 away wins at Stevenage, Oldham and Colchester. "It's lovely to win the award and it means I've been doing something right," Pitman told Hot Radio. "More importantly it means the team has been winning, so obviously it goes hand in hand and it's been a good run of form for myself and the team. "Sometimes when you're on a good scoring run you get a little bit more luck - things fall to you and that's how it has worked out."
