MacDonald hails family support

Shaun MacDonald has credited the support of his family for helping him through an injury-plagued first season at Dean Court.

The 23-year-old arrived at the Dorset club from Swansea in the summer, but has started just 11 games for the Cherries due to a series of niggles. However, the midfielder has featured in each of Bournemouth's last six outings and he has thanked those close to him for coaxing him through a testing start to his time on the south coast. "It's not been the best of times. I came to play as many games as I could and to be out injured has been very frustrating for me," he said. "But I'm back now and I'm looking forward to helping Bournemouth to a really positive end to the season. "You have to stay mentally positive and keep focused on what you're trying to do and, luckily for me, I've got a good family around me and the gaffer (Lee Bradbury) has been great with me as well. "There have been messages of support from the fans too, and all that helps you through a time like that. It's tough but it's part of football."
