Youngster aware he may have to be patient at Newcastle

Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling knows he may have to bide his time before he is handed an opportunity to prove himself at St James' Park. The 21-year-old has been plagued by injury since he arrived on Tyneside from Everton last summer. He has made just six appearances for the Magpies, and the last of them - as a substitute against his former club on November 5th - was his first at home. However, Gosling is well aware of the quality of the midfielders at manager Alan Pardew's disposal and has no complaints about his lack of opportunities to date. He said: "There's a long time [to go] in my career. "There are internationals here who are playing ahead of me and we sit third in the table at the minute, so the gaffer has obviously been reluctant to change the team, and quite rightly so. "There has just been no way in, really, so you just keep working hard on the training field and pushing each other and when the chance comes, you've got to be prepared and ready."
