Adam Federici hopes to be gracing the top flight in the future, be that with Reading or another side.

Royals shot-stopper keen to reach the very top

Adam Federici hopes to be gracing the Premier League in the not too distant future, be that with Reading or another side. The Australian goalkeeper has seen his profile rocket over recent years after stepping into Marcus Hahnemann's boots at the Madejski Stadium. A number of assured displays have led to links with a host of top-flight clubs, including the likes of Arsenal and Fulham. Federici is not afraid to admit that he fully intends to be plying his trade at the highest level in the next few years, even if that means being forced to move on. "I'm not going to hide my ambition," he said. "I've come a long way to play in this country and I want to be at the highest level. "We've a realistic chance of getting promoted this season and if I can do it with Reading that's fantastic.

Taste

"Everyone wants to play Premier League football. It's the biggest league in the world and the most watched. "I've had my little taste of it (having played two games for the Royals in 2007) and it's fantastic to be involved in it." Should Reading fail to match Federici's ambition, there is a chance he could move on next summer. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he admits that he is yet to decide what the future will hold. "I'm out of contract at the end of this season," he said. "We've been in discussions and I hope all goes well. I tend to just keep my head down and play. "We'll have to see what happens, but I want to stay. Hopefully, we'll sort things out and it's all positive."
