Bournemouth have signed midfielder Carl Pettefer on a month-to-month contract.
Pettefer has spent the summer training with the League Two club after leaving Oxford United at the end of last season.
He featured in several of the club's pre-season friendlies and has now been given a more extended chance to impress manager Kevin Bond.
With the Cherries short on options in midfield due to injuries to Joe Partington and Danny Hollands, Bond had been keen to add to his ranks.
Former Portsmouth youngster Pettefer was signed in time to take up a place on Bournemouth's bench for Saturday's opening game of the campaign against Gillingham, which finished 1-1.
