Morecambe have taken Bournemouth striker Conal Platt on a month-long loan.

The 20-year-old - who started his career at Liverpool before joining The Cherries in the summer - signed in time to make his debut on Saturday against Gravesend and Northfleet.

Platt came off the bench in the 1-0 home win that was settled by a Ross Smith own goal just before half time.

His arrival helps fill the void left up front by the loss of Danny Carlton, who is currently out of action for around three months with a knee injury.

While one comes in, another player is on his way out after the Shrimps decided to release non-contract player Matty Shaw.

The midfielder had made four appearances for the Conference club this season.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth defender Warren Cummings will miss the next six weeks of action after having a plate removed from his left leg.

Cummings had the plate inserted after breaking his left leg in the summer of 2005.
