Cherries pick three

Bournemouth have snapped up three players on the eve of the new season.

Bournemouth have snapped up three players on the eve of the new season.

Dorset's only Football League club travel to Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday boosted by the arrival Kirk Hudson, and defenders Shaun Cooper and Callum Hart on short-term deals.

Striker Hudson is a former Scottish Youth Cup winner with Celtic, Cooper was released by Portsmouth at the end of last season and Hart was also a free agent after leaving Bristol City.

They will be a welcome addition to Sean O'Driscoll, who recently signed Southampton winger Andrew Surman on loan and former West brom centre-back Josh Gowling on a one-year deal.

"We have tried to get a natural left-back in as soon as Warren Cummings looked like he was going to be out for a long time," O'Driscoll told the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

"You only have to look at how long it took us to replace Jamie Vincent before Warren arrived. Andrew's arrival earlier in the week was a major plus as we'd been chasing him all summer.

"But these three players have potential and we will see what happens. Their position will be reviewed after each month by both parties."

Bournemouth had been under a transfer embargo as they faced the prospect of a winding-up order from former club secretary Andrew Noonan and were unable to replace Burnley-bound wingers Wade Elliott and Garreth O'Connor.

The case was settled earlier this month and the club became free to bring in fresh blood.

All five signings go straight into the squad to face Danny Wilson's Dons.
