Cherries trial former Bhoy

Bournemouth are running the rule over former Celtic youngster Kirk Hudson.

Bournemouth are running the rule over former Celtic youngster Kirk Hudson.

The pacy striker impressed Cherries boss Sean O'Driscoll with his equalising goal against South Coast rivals Southampton in a 1-1 pre-season friendly draw at Dean Court on Friday.

His performance may earn the youngster a chance to continue his career with the League One club this coming season.

"He's raw, young and quick and he does what young lads do," O'Driscoll told Bournemouth Daily Echo.

"He's full of enthusiasm, so getting a goal won't do his confidence any harm and he's put his name forward.

"He's going home for the weekend, so we'll have a chat on Monday."

The Cherries, meanwhile, are sweating over the fitness of Stephen Purches after he was stretchered off of Friday's friendly with a knee injury.

Purches will have a scan on Monday to assess the damage he sustained against The Saints.
