Bournemouth defender Karl Broadhurst has gone under the knife to treat a hernia problem.

The 24-year-old, who Cherries contract expires in the summer, will be sidelined for up to six weeks following Tuesday's operation.

Captain Broadhurst had been playing with the problem for several weeks before the League One club decided that now was the best time for him to be treated.

"I expect Karl to be out for four to six weeks," Dean Court boss Sean O'Driscoll told the club's official website.
