BOURNEMOUTH will be missing the services of defender Karl Broadhurst for at least a month with an ankle injury.

Broadhurst suffered a hairline fracture of the ankle during training on Christmas Eve and an X-ray confirmed the extent of the damage.

The 22-year-old had established himself as a fixture in The Cherries' first team this season but cursed his misfortune after learning he will be sidelined for an estimated four weeks.

"It's very disappointing to get the injury because I was enjoying a good run in the side," Broadhurst told the club's official website.

"It's just sheer bad luck on my part as I tried to block a shot from Warren Feeney and the ball hit the end of my toe. My foot snapped back quite violently and I felt a sharp pain in my ankle.

"I was hoping it was just a strain but the MRI scan showed there was an abnormality there and then the X-ray revealed the fracture.

"I won't know a definite lay-off period until I've seen the specialist but Jim Marshall has estimated four weeks.‚Ç¥
