Preston are lining up a raid on League One rivals Leyton Orient for goalkeeper Jamie Jones, Sky Sports understands.
Jones is out of contract at Brisbane Road later this summer and he has been offered a new deal by Orient.
However, Preston are hoping to lure Jones away from Orient by taking him to Deepdale on a free transfer.
Former Everton youngster Jones has established himself as one of the best keepers outside the top two divisions since joining Orient in the summer of 2008.
The 25-year-old played a key role in helping Orient reach the League One play-off final last season and Preston boss Simon Grayson is thought to be a big admirer of the shot-stopper.
