Latics boss hopeful of negotiating new deal with forward

Oldham manager Paul Dickov is taking it as a 'positive sign' that forward Robbie Simpson has returned to train with the club following the end of his loan spell. Simpson had been due to return to parent club Huddersfield after last weekend's home encounter with Sheffield Wednesday having spent three months on loan at Oldham. However, the 25-year-old has stayed at Boundary Park after Terriers manager Lee Clark informed him he was free to train with the Latics until the transfer window opens in January. Dickov is keen on getting the forward back on Oldham's books next month, telling the club's official website: "It is a positive sign that Robbie wants to train with us. "I would like to think we can sort something out. "First Robbie has things he needs to sort out at Huddersfield. Once that has been done hopefully we can sit down with him." Simpson notched up 18 appearances in all competitions during his loan spell at Oldham, scoring four goals.
