Rovers boss has not spoken with Senegalese midfielder

Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders has denied the Championship club are in talks with St Etienne's Moustapha Bayal Sall. The Senegalese midfielder had been linked with a move to Rovers in January, with one report speculating a deal had already been finalised. The Keepmoat Stadium boss has conceded that Sall is on the club's radar, however, he has denied holding any talks with the 25-year-old. "He's someone we've looked at but I've not spoken to him," he told the Doncaster Free Press.

No deal

"Bayal Sall is contracted to St Etienne and I'm not going to go down the road of talking about another club's player. "It's certainly not the case that we've agreed anything with either him or his club." Meanwhile, Saunders is digesting the unwelcome news that midfielder John Oster is facing three months on the sidelines. The Wales international is recovering from neck surgery and physio John Dickens believes the 32-year-old will require at least 10 weeks to recover. However, Saunders has been boosted by the news that goalkeeper Gary Woods showed no setbacks from a collarbone injury in a reserves clash with Chesterfield on Tuesday.
