Slade slams slack defending

Image: Slade: Goals conceded were avoidable

Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade blamed his side's defending for their latest defeat as they succumbed 3-1 to Oldham.

The Os are still rock-bottom and without a win despite taking the lead against Oldham through teenager George Porter. But goals from Shefki Kuqi, Reuben Reid and substitute Matt Smith secured a 3-1 win for the visitors. "We had a great start to the match and it was superb for George Porter who got a goal on his first start," said Slade. "Oldham are a strong physical side and so balls into the box and second balls began, towards the end of the first-half, to become a bit of a problem. But we got through to half-time which was important. "But in the second period, I have to say that the three goals we've conceded were really disappointing. They were avoidable. "Our back four are really experienced players but there was a bit of communication problems between a couple of players, they've both gone for the same ball and we have not narrowed off as a unit at the back and to be honest, one or two Oldham players could have scored the first goal."
