Scunthorpe boss Ian Baraclough has confirmed Josh Wright has handed in a transfer request to the club.

Midfielder set to leave Glanford Park

Scunthorpe boss Ian Baraclough has confirmed Josh Wright has handed in a transfer request. Baraclough reluctantly confirmed speculation that the midfielder had asked to leave the club. The Iron manager did however say that at this stage they have received no offers for the former Charlton man. The 21-year-old enjoyed spells at Barnet, Brentford and Gillingham before moving to Glanford Park last year. "He came to speak to me about it," Baraclough told the club's official website.

Unfortunate

"He was offered a new deal and expressed his wish to move on and said he wasn't interested in signing a new deal. "He's not been able to settle very well in the area, which is something I was unaware of, and he feels it will be best for him to move on - whether it's in this transfer window or at the end of the season. "Josh is a person who has given 100 per cent at all times and it will be a sad loss to lose him because I think he's gone and progressed well at this club. "He's enjoyed his time here but he told me he hasn't been able to settle and he feels as though he needs to move on. "That's unfortunate but it's something we'll have to deal with."
