Striker Wayne Carlisle has left Leyton Orient for Conference club Exeter.

The 26-year-old has failed to make an impact at the club this season, and Orient boss Martin Ling revealed that it was not a difficult decision to offload him to Exeter.

"Alex Inglethorpe (Exeter manager) approached me about Wayne and I sat down with him to discuss his future," Ling told The O's official website.

"He asked me what his chances were of getting a new contract when his existing deal expired at the end of the season and I told him it was unlikely he would get a new one.

"The deal with Exeter is only until the end of the season, but it's regular first team football and there's a good chance he'll get a longer contract there if he impresses."

Carlisle's departure follows those of Joe Dolan and Christian Hanson earlier in the week, and Ling is now likely to go into the transfer market to compensate for his losses.
