Keeper heads to Orient

Leyton Orient have brought in Glyn Garner on a free transfer from Bury.

Leyton Orient have brought in Glyn Garner on a free transfer from Bury.

Garner has rejected the offer of a new contract at Gigg Lane to sign a two-year deal with their League Two rivals.

The goalkeeper had spent five years with The Shakers but the Welshman has decided to accept a new challenge with Orient.

O's boss Martin Ling was happy with the signing, particularly as one of the key areas in the team has been strengthened with the season only just concluded.

"I'm pleased to get such an important signing sealed so early in the close season," Ling told the club's official website.

"It's a big component in our machine - he's a big, commanding goalkeeper who is widely rated as one of the best in the lower divisions.

"He's been a big performer in this league for the last three or four years and the fact that Bury offered him a new deal shows the value they put on him and I'm glad we've been able to put together a package to entice him south."
