Brighton have agreed a deal to sign Israel international midfielder Beram Kayal from Celtic for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old passed a medical at Brighton who must now await the outcome of a work permit application before the player signs a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Brighton manager Chris Hughton said: "We're delighted to have agreed a deal for someone of Kayal's stature, he's got plenty of experience with Celtic, and is an international.
"He is a good age and is a player who is really dynamic in midfield. He can play a few roles, including the holding role, but he also has the energy to break forward.
"He can play in a two or three-man midfield, so that gives us flexibility there. He has been involved in some big games at Celtic and he will really give us another real good option in midfield."
Kayal joined Celtic from Israeli side Maccabi Haifa in 2010 and went to make 132 appearances for the Glasgow side, scoring three goals.
