Poyet feels sorry for Painter

Brighton manager Gus Poyet offered his sympathy to defender Marcos Painter after his red card in the defeat at Leicester.

Full-back Painter will now miss Wednesday night's eagerly-anticipated Carling Cup clash with Liverpool at the Amex through suspension after two bookings, the second a harsh handball. "I feel sorry for Marcos," said Poyet. "The ball hits his hand from two yards and now he is going to miss Liverpool at home. Is that fair?" Assistant boss Mauricio Taricco, 38, could be pressed into action in Painter's absence.
