Inigo Calderon has signed a contract extension at Brighton that will keep him at the club until 2014.
Skysports.com revealed on Thursday that the popular Spaniard had
committed his future to the Seagulls, and the penning of fresh terms has now been confirmed.
The 29-year-old full-back has agreed a new two-year deal, with the option for a further 12 months on top of that.
Calderon, who joined Brighton on a free transfer in 2009, is delighted to be able to put the issue to one side and focus on aiding the club's efforts to establish themselves in the Championship.
Progression
"With the progression the club is making both on and off the pitch, I was very happy to sign this new deal," he told the club's
official website.
"I still had two years left on my contract to run so for the club to offer me a new deal came as some surprise - it's not something that has happened to me in my career.
"But it means the club are happy with my form and I am happy to commit my future here.
"My girlfriend and I are very settled in the area, we enjoy our life here, and hopefully there will be many more good times to come."
