Skysports.com understands Scunthorpe have agreed a deal to bring Jimmy McNulty back to the club.
McNulty had a short spell on loan at Scunthorpe last season from Brighton and he impressed Iron boss Nigel Adkins during his time at Glanford Park.
The Iron are in the market for a left-back after seeing Marcus Williams leave to join Reading and McNulty has been their top target.
Brighton are believed to be willing to let McNulty move on as he is down the pecking order in Gus Poyet's plans.
McNulty expressed his desire to return to Scunthorpe and now both clubs have agreed a six-month loan deal for the full-back.
