Brighton midfielder Steven Thomson is to return to Scotland and join St Mirren when the transfer window opens.
The former Falkirk player has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Scottish Premier League club.
Thomson, 30, has spent a year with Brighton after signing from Falkirk last January.
The Glasgow-born player has also had previous spells with Crystal Palace and Peterborough.
Saints boss Gus MacPherson said on his club's official website: "We have agreed a deal with Steven Thomson and his present side Brighton.
"The player, who will come to us in January, has agreed to sign up with us until the summer of 2011.
"Steven is a midfielder - an area where we have been a wee bit short lately and we felt needed to be strengthened to give us a few more options.
"He will bring a wee bit more competitiveness into the midfield area as well as bringing a fresh face into the squad that will undoubtedly lift everybody.
"We're delighted to get Steven in and we all look forward to working with him."
