Michel Kuipers has signed a new two-year contract extension at Brighton & Hove Albion.The Dutch goalkeeper, who will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, has penned terms to stay with The Seagulls until 2007.
He has been rewarded with the fresh deal following the injury he suffered against Nottingham Forest last month which curtailed his campaign prematurely.
The 30-year-old has been at The Withdean Stadium since 2000 and is firmly established as manager Mark McGhee's number one.
With Kuipers' future secured, McGhee is now turning his thoughts on to who will be the second keeper on the South Coast next season.
Ben Roberts has yet to play for Brighton this term due to a back complaint but has been told there will be a contract for him, if he proves his fitness.
"Ben has been out all season and therefore cannot argue with the fact that he still has to earn something for next season," said McGhee.
"Michel has played and has signed a new contract so at the moment, as far as I am concerned, we have one goalkeeper for next season.
"The second will either be Ben or I will find someone else and I think I am quite entitled to talk like that. I hope it's Ben but we cannot afford to be sentimental."
