MICHEL KUIPERS will not play again this season, after being told he needs surgery on his injured thigh.

The Dutch keeper has not played for Brighton`s first-team since picking up a knock against Norwich in January.

He made a return for the reserves in midweek, but only lasted 45 minutes and has been told surgery is required.

Seagulls physio Malcolm Stuart told the club`s website: "Michel will undergo an operation early next month. We were hoping to do it at the end of the season, but we've had to bring it forward because he's still having problems kicking the ball."

In other news, star striker Bobby Zamora (pictured) is progressing well following his hamstring injury, but the club will not set a date for his return.
