Ian Holloway was struggling to find the positives after his Millwall side were defeated 3-1 at the Den by 10-man Huddersfield.

Millwall fans were hoping for a first home win in nine after Stefan Maierhofer cancelled out Sean Scannell's opener before the visitors were reduced to 10 men, with Nahki Wells seeing red for two bookable offences.

But it was not to be as Jacob Butterfield let rip from distance with 15 minutes left before James Vaughan sealed all three points for Huddersfield late on from 12 yards out - much to Holloway's anger.

"It ends horrendously but for me it is not horrendous. We are suffering but we are always looking forward. This feels horrendous because our fans have gone home gutted again," Holloway said.

"After the second goal everything went wrong, everything. It showed our lack of confidence. Sometimes things happen to keepers, where was the rest of the team to pick him up? Where was the rest of the team to pick up Jimmy Abdou when he fell over?

"Even against 10 men we should be doing our job to make sure we stay with our men. We just need to keep faith in what we are doing and the group needs to find more leaders.

"For some reason at the moment in this ground we're not really enjoying ourselves.

"I'm finding it very difficult to stomach the last 15 minutes. I felt that Huddersfield were aggrieved and that's what you want from your team, just as we have in the past few days - they wanted to win it for Nahki Wells.

"Everybody needs to stop thinking about themselves and where they are going to be and more about the future of the club."

As for Huddersfield, this was a fifth win in a row against the Lions and manager Chris Powell was full of praise for his players, who battled on despite Wells seeing red.

"Coming to Millwall is always a tall order and it has been a very good day for us away from home against a side who are in and around us in the league," Powell said.

"We knew we had to take something from the game and that was quite easily my best performance as manager.

"Considering we went down to 10 men, this team, which has showed a lot of togetherness recently, put in a very good performance against the odds.

"It was never a sending-off, considering Jacob Butterfield nearly got decapitated in the first half. For us to come through all that and show the tactical awareness to go 3-1 was very pleasing to see.

"When we went down to 10 men we felt that if we kept our shape we could keep up with Millwall and we did.

"Maybe Butterfield's goal was fortunate but sometimes taking that chance merits the fortune.

"It was a real test and I thought all my players stood up to it today, and nothing beats a win for confidence heading into our next game."
