Championship: Huddersfield to appoint Chris Powell as manager

Chris Powell will be appointed as the new manager of Huddersfield, according to Sky sources.

Huddersfield have been looking to recruit a new boss since Mark Robins left the club by mutual consent following the 4-0 reverse to Bournemouth on the opening day of the season.

And on Wednesday afternoon Powell arrived at the club and looks set to be appointed as their new manager.

The Terriers are currently one place above the relegation zone in the Championship having won one and drawn one of their five league matches this season.

Powell has been out of management since he was dismissed by Charlton in March this year, with the team rooted to the bottom of the Championship.

We understand a deal could be thrashed out as early as today.

Kick It Out have welcomed the news of the  appointment, as there are currently no black managers at any of the 92 league clubs.
