Motherwell have taken Huddersfield Town striker Kallum Higginbotham on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old is a former Falkirk forward whose loan spell at Carlisle ended in December.

Higginbotham was signed by previous Huddersfield manager Lee Clark after his man-of-the-match display in the Bairns' Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final defeat by Celtic, but Simon Grayson soon took over the reins at Town.

"I have gone down there and it's not worked out how I wanted it to," said the former Rochdale player.

"I've come here to ignite my career and I'm thankful the gaffer gave me this chance.

"People have different opinions and I just think I've not been given a fair chance at Huddersfield. That's just my own opinion. Every time I pulled on the shirt I think I done myself justice.

"I need to be playing. This is a good chance to get some minutes, hopefully get some goals and get my confidence, like when at Falkirk.

"Then I'll have 12 months left on my contract and who knows?"
