Huddersfield's Sean Scannell has been included in Republic of Ireland's Under-21 squad for their UEFA Euro 2013 qualifier against Turkey.

The match is set to take place at the Showground in Sligo on Tuesday, August 14, and as a result the player will miss Town's Capital One Cup game at Preston. The Terriers new-boy Scannell was born in Croydon, but qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his father, who was born in Ireland. To date Scannell has nine Under-21 caps, to add to his appearance for Ireland B. He has also been called up to the senior squad, but has yet to be capped at that level. Scannell was on the scoresheet for the Terriers in their 2-2 pre-season draw against Hibernian on Saturday.
