Manchester United youngster Oliver Norwood admits he jumped at the chance to join Championship strugglers Coventry City on transfer deadline day.
Norwood joined Coventry on loan until the end of the season after recently returning to Old Trafford following a successful spell on loan at Scunthorpe.
The 20-year-old impressed during his stint at Scunthorpe, making 19 appearances for the Iron and he been allowed to make the move to the Championship to continue his development.
The Northern Ireland international is looking forward to playing in the Championship and is determined to do his bit to help Coventry stay up.
Excited
"I am very excited to be at Coventry," Norwood told
Sky Sports.
"I was at Scunthorpe for the first part of the season and then this came about at around five o'clock on deadline day and I jumped at the chance to come here."
"It is up to me now to take the chance and prove I can play at this level and see where it takes me.
"I am very excited about coming here and it is a great chance for me.
"My main goal is to play as many games as possible and hopefully keep us in the Championship because it's a massive club and belongs in the Championship and hopefully we can do that and stay there."
Norwood is in line to make his debut against Ipswich this weekend and the skilful midfielder insists the whole squad are determined to bounce back from the midweek defeat by Blackpool.
"Nobody is downhearted about the result the other night, that has been forgot about," he added.
"The gaffer said the team played really well and the lads felt they played really well so it is on to the next one against Ipswich and it will be an important three points we need to pick up.
"Hopefully I can repay the faith the manager [Andy Thorn] has shown in bringing me here and for giving me the chance by helping the team stay in Championship."
Improved
Norwood believes he has improved as a player from his experiences at Scunthorpe.
"It was a great experience for me at Scunthorpe and I am grateful to Alan Knill for giving me my chance and playing me in as many games as he did," added Norwood.
"I think it's served me well and I have learnt a lot and added stuff to my game that I didn't have before."
