Chairman Paul Baker wants to keep striker James Spencer at Cheltenham for the entire season.
Spencer is currently on a six-month loan at the Abbey Business Stadium from Huddersfield, and the forward has made a huge impression for the Robins - banging in five goals in 13 appearances so far.
The 19-year-old's deal expires in the new year, but Baker insisted he will do all he can to procure the front man's services until May.
"Spencer has been outstanding and we'd like to extend that loan until the end of the season if we can," he told the Gloucestershire Echo.
"I think Mark's (Yates, Cheltenham manager) use of the loan market this season has been outstanding and if you can secure players for longer, they are more likely to buy into the club."
