Simpson happy with Latics switch

Striker Robbie Simpson says his three-month loan switch to Oldham from Huddersfield is the perfect move for him.

The 26-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Brentford, is looking forward to first-team football after joining the Latics. Simpson turned down other clubs to move to Boundary Park in order to stay near his home in Leeds. "I would have liked to have done the loan earlier and maybe for the full season, but it is not to be," he told the club's official website. "I have to make the most of these three months to impress everyone and hopefully they will want me again after that. "I wanted to stay close to my brother because we have had some terrible circumstances in my family and also remain in League One because I believe I am good enough to play at this level as I have proved whenever I have played at it. "I wasn't prepared to drop down and another reason was because I wanted to play for Oldham."
