The Republic of Ireland international is currently on loan with Huddersfield and has helped the Terriers reach Sunday's League One play-off final with Peterborough at Old Trafford.

Although the versatile 34-year still has another season to run on his contract at the KC Stadium, he no longer believes he is part of manager Nigel Pearson's plans.

The former Preston, West Brom, Sunderland, Everton and Wigan man will hold talks with Pearson and Hull's head of football operations Adam Pearson after Sunday's showdown with a view to resolving his future.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: "I think it will be difficult for Nigel (Pearson) to have me back now.

"He's obviously planning for the future at Hull by bringing in new players.

"But I will speak to Adam and Nigel when my time has finished at Huddersfield.

"I still have a contract at Hull and I will do everything right by both Hull City and Huddersfield."
