Morecambe manager hoping for permanent deal for striker
Sammy McIlroy has revealed that Morecambe are in talks with Huddersfield over a permanent deal for Phil Jevons.
Jevons has spent the season on loan with the Shrimps from Huddersfield and his 19 goals have helped them challenge for a play-off place.
McIlroy would like to keep the striker but accepts that the final decision will rest with the Terriers and further negotiations are needed.
"I'd love to sign him, and we are talking to Huddersfield," McIlroy told the Lancashire Evening Post.
"I've never had a striker at Morecambe who has scored nearly 20 goals in a season, it would be a fantastic asset and a super signing.
"Phil Jevons is a fine professional, he likes it here and has provided our cutting edge this season.
"He is Huddersfield's player though, and we'll have to see if we can hammer out a fee with them."
