Wilder looking upwards

Northampton boss Chris Wilder says all his team can do is keep playing the same way and see where it takes them in May.

Cobblers made it six wins in eight outings with a 3-0 victory over struggling York who, in contrast, have now won just once in nine games. Goals at the start of each half from Chris Hackett and Brendon Moloney, plus a late goal from substitute Ivan Toney, sealed the points for a Cobblers side who also saw top scorer Marc Richards miss a penalty for the second home game running. Wilder said: "That was a really good performance and we scored some great goals, if Marc Richards had not missed the penalty who knows what the final score might have been. "York had their spell for 15 minutes, teams always will at some stage, but we're playing really well at home and that's another clean sheet. "We deserved to win it and we just had too much for York who were always going to be difficult opponents fighting at the bottom of the table. "Matt Duke has not had much to do at all and we should have had penalty in the first half when their keeper could have been sent off. "The forward always get the praise when you win 3-0 but our midfielders and full-backs, especially, were superb going forward. "We were brilliant going forward and the third goal was a fantastic goal. I hope all the fans have gone home happy after that because I certainly am. "We've dropped five points at Hartlepool and Mansfield but we've bounced back well and got those disappointments out of our system. That's six wins in eight games and we're playing how we want to now. "We've just got to keep going as long as possible and keep our season alive, let's see where that takes us in May." York boss Russ Wilcox said: "We're in trouble and this game showed why we are down there. We've got to get enough points to stay in the league, that's all it's about now. "Individual errors are costing us. We spoke before the game about how Northampton like to make quick starts to games and we've conceded after four minutes. "We weren't at it without the ball and I'm absolutely raging. The performance wasn't good enough and that needs to be addressed. "It's so frustrating because our past two performances have been very good. We've tried to build on that and we want to be consistent and today's performance was not acceptable. "We knew what the situation was going to be when we got in the building and we need to improve on this if we are going to achieve what we're here to do. "The base is being solid and keeping clean sheets and we've given Northampton too many opportunities to score goals. They're a good side and they have found belief in themselves in the past month to win games. "But we threw the goals in and we're not using our experience to manage games."
