Northampton have confirmed the signing of free agent Jason Taylor on a contract until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old initially joined the Cobblers on loan from Cheltenham but has now signed a permanent deal after leaving the Robins. Taylor began his career at Oldham but was quickly loaned out to Stockport after failing to make a single first-team appearance for the Lactics. He signed permanently for Stockport in 2006 before moving on to Rotherham where he made 117 appearances, scoring 10 goals. A brief loan stint at Rochdale followed before he joined Cheltenham in 2013. He leaves Whaddon Road having made 52 appearances and scoring twice.
