Cobblers eye Langmead extension

League Two outfit Northampton are keen to extend Kelvin Langmead's loan spell from Championship side Peterborough.

Langmead's deal at the League Two club expired following the 1-1 draw against his former club Shrewsbury on Bank Holiday Monday. Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd would like to keep the 26-year-old centre-back at Sixfields and hopes to do a deal before his side's trip to Morecambe on Saturday. "I'd like to take Kelvin for longer because I like him a lot," Boothroyd said. "He's a winner and he got a standing ovation from the Shrewsbury fans, which shows you what he's all about. "He's got a couple of promotions under his belt, he's got a lot of talent and he wants to be here, which all mean a lot. I know he's got to have a chat with Peterborough and we've got to have a chat with them as well, but we'll see if we can do something. "It's one of those situations where it suits everybody. He's a good lad and he's been unfortunate through periods of his loan spell here."
