Gill: Hard work ahead for Pirates

Bristol Rovers midfielder Matt Gill has warned his team-mates they must raise their game after they were resoundingly beaten 3-0 by Port Vale.

Goals from Marc Richards, Doug Loft and former Rovers player Sean Rigg sealed a comfortable victory for Vale in Tuesday night's League Two clash at the Memorial Stadium. Gill said: "It's a very low dressing room because our performance was unacceptable. "The excuse that we are a new bunch of players getting to know one another is wearing a bit thin. There is a lot of hard work ahead this week. "We thought we had a result to build on when we beat Rotherham in our last home game and there were positives to take out of Saturday's defeat at Burton. "But we just couldn't get going and there have been some harsh words spoken after the game. We need to do a lot better against Dagenham on Saturday."
