Walsall striker Alex Nicholls claims showdown talks with manager Dean Smith helped revive his career.
Nicholls has scored in the Saddlers' past two fixtures and grabbed the winner in Saturday's 1-0 win over Preston. He was left out of the squad for the 1-0 defeat to Colchester last month and admits a heart-to-heart with Smith helped inspire his current form. "I was disillusioned a month ago, I didn't know whether I was coming or going or what position I was going to be playing in," he told the Express & Star. "I sat down with the gaffer and told him how I felt and he told me honestly. Since sitting down I feel I've been a lot better."
