Poyet still to reach verdict over Carter

Brighton boss Gus Poyet will hand Vicente another start against Hull City Saturday, while a decision on Darren Carter's future is planned. The Spanish midfielder made his full debut and scored in the 3-1 defeat by Ipswich before the international break and will now be given the chance to impress from kick-off at the Amex Stadium. "There are maybe two or three players that deserve to play right now and Vicente is one of them," Poyet told The Argus. "He did what we wanted him to do in defence at Ipswich and he made a difference on the ball, so he is going to play on Saturday that's for sure. "There are another two or three, I'm not going to give you the names, that deserve to play. "The rest? I can do whatever I like, because I don't think any of the rest can come and knock on the door and say 'why am I not playing'? "And if you are coming you have got a problem, because we have got plenty of videos and clips and things to show you."

Not exact player

And Poyet will make a decision over on-trial Carter ahead of Saturday's clash with the Tigers. Former Birmingham and Preston midfielder Carter, a free agent, has spent the last fortnight training with the Seagulls and scored for the reserves against Bournemouth earlier this week. Poyet wants to beef up his midfield following his side's recent dip in form and is weighing up whether to hand Carter a contract. The Uruguayan told the club's official website: "He has got plenty of things I like. He's not the exact player I am looking for, but we'll see. "We have a lot of ball players so we need to compensate for that, but I am sure those are Darren's characteristics, so we have a decision to make."
