Bournemouth have backed goalkeeper Shwan Jalal to become a success by offering him a new three-year contract.

The Baghdad-born stopper's previous deal was due to run out next summer and negotiations over new terms appeared to break down in the close season before talks reopened a fortnight ago. Jalal has lost his place in the Cherries starting XI to Darryl Flahavan this season, but manager Lee Bradbury believes the 28-year-old has what it takes to cut it in the npower Championship. "I think Shwan can be a Championship keeper and we want him to achieve that at this club and that is reflected in the length of the deal," Bradbury told the club's official website.
