Northampton chairman David Cardoza has asked fans to have patience with boss Gary Johnson after a poor start to the season.
Just two wins from their opening nine fixtures has left the Cobblers in 20th position, but Cardoza feels Johnson will be able to transform the team's fortunes in the near future. He told the Northampton Chronicle: "Would I have wanted us to be in this position after nine games? No, but if we win a couple of games then the whole thing turns around so it's too early to be worried. I'm very confident Gary can turn it around. "There have been some massive changes in the summer, we've got virtually a whole new team and it is going to take time. "The fans are going to have to be patient. I wish our form was better than it is but it isn't and we've got to see that through. "We couldn't have appointed anyone better [than Johnson], he ticks all the boxes, and to be fair he's had slow starts wherever he has gone, by the looks of it."
