Johnson hoping to bolster squad

Northampton manager Gary Johnson is hoping to add 'one or two' new players to his League Two squad during this week.

Johnson watched his team slump to a 3-1 defeat at Macclesfield on Saturday, a result that means the Cobblers have taken just nine points from their first nine league games this season. Johnson, who lost Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi to a long-term knee injury last week and had first-year professional Greg Kaziboni and untested Austrian teenager Lumbardh Salihu among his substitutes at Moss Rose, wants to bolster his squad as soon as possible. "I've spoken to the chairman and he's been supportive every time I've been to see him; I'm pretty sure we'll see one or two new faces this week," Johnson told the Chronicle and Echo. "The problems aren't off the pitch, off the pitch we're all working very hard to make sure we're productive and the chairman is leading that. "We've already had that discussion and we'll wait until something comes off but there should be one or two of them in this week."
