Cobblers seal triple swoop

Northampton manager Gary Johnson has further reinforced his squad with three new signings.

Former Waford winger Lewis Young, ex-St Johnstone midfielder Nick McKoy and Bermudan goalkeeper Freddy Hall have all agreed one-year deals. Young, the 21-year-old brother of England forward Ashley, spent last season with Town's League Two counterparts Burton but was released in May, while McKoy found the net three times in 30 appearances for Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Kettering last term. "Lewis came to my attention at the end of last season and we invited him in for pre-season training," said Johnson of Young. "He is a right winger with a lot of potential. We need to help him step out of his brother's shadow, but if we can unlock his undoubted potential he will be a very good signing for us. On 24-year-old McCoy, the Cobblers boss added: "Nick is a big, strong, athletic boy. He can play in central midfield or at centre back and he has a real physical presence about him. He has been with us since the start of pre-season training and he has settled in well." The deal to bring in former Charlton trialist Hall, 25, is subject to international clearance.
