Northampton Town boss Ian Sampson is optimistic that Abdul Osman will agree to sign a new contract with the League Two club.
Osman has made over 70 appearances for the Cobblers since joining in 2008 and has been offered terms to stay at Sixfields next season.
The 23-year-old has yet to make a decision on his future but, even if he does opt to leave, Sampson confirmed Northampton will be entitled to a fee.
Sampson said: "Contrary to reports, Abdul's contract has not been agreed yet.
"The offer is with his agent who is looking over it. Abdul is quite happy with it I think, though, so it looks like he will sign.
"But we hold compensation rights for him so if he does go elsewhere we will be entitled to some money.
"We think he is worth a few quid so there is no way he will be leaving for nothing."
