Nottingham Forest defender Brendan Moloney has left the door open for a return to Scunthorpe.
The 21-year-old joined Scunthorpe on loan in January in a bid to prove himself in the Championship after spending the first half of the season on loan at Notts County.
But just two weeks later, Moloney's stay was cut short as he suffered a serious knee injury on his first Iron start.
The Irish full-back made two substitute appearances before Iron boss Nigel Adkins started him at West Brom, and he was forced off after just 23 minutes after suffering medial ligament damage.
Moloney will be back at Glanford Park on Sunday to watch the Iron's final league game against Forest, who are assured of a Championship play-off place, and he did not rule out a possible return in a playing capacity next season.
"I want to get back to being as fit as I can - I'm ready to get going," he told the
Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"Nigel Adkins has contacted me a couple of times to wish me well which was really nice of him.
"You never know what might happen in football, it's a funny game. I'll just wait and see what happens."
While the Iron squad will now take a well-earned break after securing the club's Championship status, Moloney will continue on the road to recovery.
"It was 11 weeks ago last Tuesday and it's been a long 11 weeks as well," he added.
"I was on crutches for six weeks while I had a brace and when you're in that position, there isn't a lot you can do.
"Being injured is probably the worst part of being a footballer, but it's all part and parcel of the job. It's frustrating, but you just have to get on with it and think of the positives."
