Leeds keeper signs one-year extension

Leeds United have secured Shane Higgs' services for another year after extending the keeper's contract. The former Cheltenham Town shot-stopper has impressed following his free transfer switch and has been manager Simon Grayson's number one. While Higgs is currently sidelined with a thigh strain the club have rewarded his play to date by extending his deal until the end of the 2010/11 season.

Delighted

"We're delighted to have Shane for another year," Grayson told the club's official website. "He has done well since he came in, and it's good to have that competition with Casper. "Shane did well in pre-season, got his opportunity, and he took it with some good performances and some good saves. "He is out at the moment, but is making good progress. Casper has come in and he's done well and I'm pleased with the competition we have there because we have two good goalkeepers."
