Defender Jason Crowe has become Leeds boss Simon Grayson's first summer signing.

Crowe signs for Leeds; Richardson a likely departure

Leeds boss Simon Grayson has completed his first summer signing in the form of Northampton defender Jason Crowe. The former Arsenal and Portsmouth right-back is set to move to Elland Road having rejected a renewed contract with the Cobblers. A popular figure at Sixfields, he made almost 200 appearances in his four years with the club. Named as Grayson's first signing in the summer transfer window, Crowe will be a welcome addition to the Whites' squad in their bid to gain automatic promotion from League One this term. Grayson said: "I'm delighted Jason has agreed to join us.

Competition

"There was a lot of interest in him and we've beaten a number of clubs to get him." "He's a versatile right-back and he's been a very consistent performer over the last couple of seasons. "He has good experience, having started with Arsenal and playing regularly for Portsmouth. "I see Jason as another valuable member of squad with the aim being to get promoted next season."
Best wishes
Cobblers boss Stuart Gray said: "We would obviously like to wish Jason all the best. "While we did make Jason a very good offer and we would have loved to have kept him at the club, you cannot begrudge him this move. "He has been a fabulous servant for the club over the last few years and we wish him every success at Leeds." Crowe's arrival means Whites skipper Frazer Richardson will likely leave Elland Road when his contract runs out at the end of the month. Richardson, 26, is Leeds' longest-serving player but has failed to reach an agreement over a new deal.
