David Hunt is keen to extend his stay with Northampton Town beyond the end of the season.

The midfielder's current deal with The Cobblers is due to expire in the summer.

Hunt has made 23 appearances in League One this term and would be happy to continue his career at Sixfields.

Northampton are currently eight points clear of the relegation zone and once safety is assured, Hunt hopes to open talks.

"My contract is up in the summer and I'm sure that will get discussed when hopefully we've secured our League One status," Hunt told the club's official website.

"I love playing for this club, the fans treat me well and I'd like to be here next season."
